西區兩強跨年拼場，拓荒者下半場原本還落後13分，最後演出逆轉，98比94擒下雷霆。

LaMarcus Aldridge這場比賽攻下25分，抓下14籃板，Damian Lillard則有21分及11次助攻，包括最後2.1秒，兩記關鍵的罰球。

拓荒者在十二月，兩度打敗雷霆，同時也中止了兩連敗，不過在西北組，25勝 7敗的拓荒者，仍落後給25勝 6敗的雷霆半場。

雷霆的Kevin Durant 37分，14籃板，在這場比賽之前，雷霆近13場比賽12勝，近22場20勝，不過在局勢匹變的第四節，KD只得到 1分，最後有機會追平比數的11呎跳投也失手。

事實上第四節雷霆只得到16分，在搬到奧克拉荷馬以來，他們除夕6場主場賽事，這還是他們第一次輸球。

第三節打到一半，雷霆還領先13分，但在3分58秒LaMarcus Aldridge罰進兩球之後，比數變成87比86，拓荒者自第一節以來，首度在場上超前對手，Reggie Jackson的跳投，讓雷霆重回領先，但Nicolas Batum的三分球，拓荒者再度取得90比88，從此一直到比賽結束，拓荒者沒有再落後過。
