日本天后級長跑選手高橋尚子，2000年在雪梨奧運義舉奪下亞洲選手在奧運馬拉松史上的第一面金牌，頓時成了全日本家喻戶曉的名人，她的露齒甜笑更成為招牌。

「因為是發自內心的喜歡這項運動，因此可以很自然地保持笑容。」高橋尚子說。


綽號小Q的高橋尚子，中學開始接觸田徑，直到1997年受到前輩鼓舞，下定決心專注於馬拉松，1998年至2002年是她的巔峰時期。

2000年雪梨奧運，高橋尚子帶著燦爛笑容站上奧運頒獎台，2001年，以2小時19分46秒在柏林馬拉松摘金，並打破女子馬拉松世界紀錄，隔年又在柏林馬拉松封后，連續將5個國際型大賽金牌收進口袋。

不過，2002年末飽受傷勢困擾，2008年在東京國際女子馬拉松後宣布退休，10年開始在北海道經營農場。

「經營農場跟馬拉松一樣，馬拉松是很長時間的競技比賽，如果不知道中間的過程是怎麼回事，就會跑得很辛苦，農業也是一樣的，從播種到收獲的過程中，也許付出了很多，但是不一樣每次都會成功，這點跟馬拉松是一樣的。」
